Every shot from Stolen Moments was surreptitiously acquired from public computers at a prominent art school in the Midwest. Slow motion car chases, point-of-view shots from a squash ball, costumed feet, heavy petting in elevators and homemade monster outfits comprise the backbone of this tightly edited video. All of the clips are black-and-white and there is no sound and the montage is based on movement and content matches. This artwork points to a collapse of the traditional public and private spheres of the moving image with our societal shift to a hyper-documented world. It also positions the artist as gatherer and editor of material as it exposes an entire stratum of visual language.
